U.S. strikes Iran again as conflict widens across Middle East
The U.S. has retaliated against Iranian strikes on American forces with a fresh wave of attacks, escalating a conflict that is spreading more widely across the Middle East.
The U.S. hit dozens of targets in a two-hour operation aimed at degrading Tehran’s ability to threaten American forces, its Arab allies and commercial shipping in the region, according to a post by U.S. Central Command (Centcom) on X.
Two vessels for liquefied natural gas (LNG) were hit by projectiles on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast at around the same time and caught fire. A security firm said the vessels had been struck by drones but there was no claim of responsibility.
