Ongoing conflict starves Israeli manufacturers of foreign equipment technicians

Israeli manufacturers from the dairy to pharmaceutical industries are struggling to attract skilled foreign workers to maintain imported machinery, as the country becomes increasingly isolated after almost three years of war.

The issue was thrust into the spotlight when cottage cheese — a national breakfast staple — all but disappeared from supermarket shelves about two months ago.

The chronic shortage stemmed from the inability of Tnuva Food Industries, Israel’s biggest dairy company, to fix a broken automated logistics system, according to a person familiar with the matter.
